dc.description.abstract The main purpose of this work was to develop a multimedia distribution model to use as a tool to predict the fate and transport of a pesticide in an agro-ecosystem. This mode was developed to suit the Sri Lankan paddy\ field environmental conditions in combination with the unit world' model environment concept. The fugacitv models level I and Level III were used as the base for this development The model was applied to 'chlorpyrifos' which is a commonly used pesticide in Sri Lanka. The predicted fate of Chlorpyrifos shows higher concentrations in the soil and sediment compartments in the modelled environment.
