Abstract:
This study aims to measure the effectiveness of an Agile Framework and Waterfall (Traditional Project Management) framework for the Mobitel Wi-Fi offloading project’s sites deployment. The research problem of the study is “How Agile is effective in term of cost, scope, time and quality of the Project than waterfall method for the Mobitel Wi-Fi offloading project’s sites deployment?”. The Research Objective is to measure the effectiveness of project management methodologies by compering waterfall method and Agile project management methodologies for the hardware implementation. The problem scope of this research is “What is the most effective project management methodology by comparing waterfall method and Agile project management practices on the Hardware implementation?”
This study provides academic and practical significance to industry stakeholders. Researcher aims to fill the academic gap/lack of literature by providing valuable findings under academic significance. In addition to academic significance, this study provides practical significance to industry stakeholders including Project managers, clients and software developers and other industry players. With the analysis of study methodology and design, the researcher used primary and secondary data sources for conducting the study. The primary research methodologies are a formal survey by administering a formal online questionnaire, data collection through Mobitel Wi-Fi implementation Tracker and In-depth interviews with respective project leaders. A comprehensive literature survey was conducted under secondary data source.
This study found that Agile is a better approach than waterfall method to conduct and implement the project to achieve expected project goals and objectives. The analysis of cost, time, scope and quality aspects of project management methodologies, it is found that the Cost of the Agile PM methodology is lower than the waterfall PM methodology and the time of the Agile PM methodology is better than the waterfall PM methodology. Finally, It found that the Scope of the Agile PM methodology is better than the waterfall PM methodology and the Quality of the Agile PM methodology is better than the waterfall PM methodology. It is finally concluded that Agile project management framework is better approach than waterfall framework to conduct and implement the project to achieve expected project goals and objectives. It is finally recommended that Agile is better and effective approach to be employed as a project management methodology than waterfall method due cost time, scope and quality advantages than Waterfall method. This study has few limitations including sample size, study model and it is suggested for the future researchers to implement comprehensive studies to avoid these limitations.
