Use of statistical software to construct 1-mr control charts for non normal data
Dhanushika, MP; Banneheka, BMSG; Herath, K; Siriwardene, S
Statistical Process Control (SPC) is an important
quality control technique, which aims to reduce variability
and monitor the performance of a production process in
order to improve and assure the quality of the' product.
Control charting can be successfully applied for
implementation of SPC in any industry. The theory on most
of established control charts is based on the normal
assumption and their performances are very much sensitive
the departures from the normal assumption. Minitab 15
statistical software performs individual distribution
identification which allows us to fit the data with 14
parametric distributions and 2 transformations. Through
this distribution identification technique, in this paper, we
have provided a solution to construct control charts for non
normal data. As an effective application of control charts,
mainly, this study focuses on constructing control charts for
quality assurance in crepe rubber industry. Since the output
of crepe rubber manufacturing process usually generates
individual observations due to the inborn features of the
production process, Individual and Moving Range chart (1-
MR chart) has been used in this study.

Swarm intelligence for resource allocation of emergency situations in hospitals
Rathnayake, H; Adikari, S
This paper focuses on resource scheduling for
patients at emergency department in hospitals. Scheduling
and coordinating of patients at emergency department is
faced with a high amount of complexity due to the inherent
dynamics of the processes and the distributed
organizational structure of hospitals. As a solution,
multi-agent system is presented, in which patients,
emergency department human resources and physical
resources are represented as autonomous agents. These
agents are able to read flexibly to changes and disturbances
(e.g. emergencies and complications) through proactiveness
and reactivates. The solution is mainly focuses
on emergency situations at hospitals. Emergency admission
is when admission is unpredictable and at short notice
because of clinical need. This paper describes a solution to
overcome the difficulties that occurs at the emergency
situations. The system has been developed on Jade
environment and can run on any compute!".

Profiled m-advertising framework for consumer advertising
Gangabada, GLPN; Premaratne, SC
Mobile advertising and profiled advertising has
become major discussion topics recently. With the
development of the mobile technology in the late 2000's many
e-business organizations trying to combine latest mobile
technologies with customer profiling in order to enhance the
reachability of their product information to the target market.
This paper briefly explains potential mechanism to enhance the
mobile advertising by improving the existing user profile
methods. The main goal of this research is to introduce a novel
user profiling mechanism that can be used to improve the
productivity of mobile advertising system. The proposed
system is capable of providing additional information such as
video, audio, etc. about advertisements to the user and
providesprofile based and proximity suggestions.
